Heather + Blair

A destination wedding comes with many perks. An onsite wedding coordinator, pre-set packages to make decisions easy, and not to mention a gorgeous backdrop to create the mood for the perfect ”I Do”. That’s how Heather and Blair are doing it, and we had the pleasure of helping them create the invites to suit.

Heather’s fun and easy-going personality made this a super fun project to work on. We’re pretty flexible here at I’ll Know It When I See It, but when we were given so many ideas and options to play with, we were like a kid in a candy store. We had a pretty wide selection of colours, type, and overall presentation ideas to play with. The only requirement was to keep it simple.

The illustrations and design were to reflect “destination”, but more importantly, the personality and union of this couple. Heather was inspired by scenes of surfboards sitting in the sand with palm trees growing in the background. So with a combination of diagonal text, surfboard motifs, and palm leaf-like patterns, the invites became laid-back and simple.

All of the information is communicated on one side of the card, letting us keep it simple with a two-toned pattern for the back. And to our fortune, shimmery envelopes in a turquoise shade were available. Not to much blue in the overall look, but a balance between light and dark colours.

The surfboard motifs are unique to Heather + Blair, as is with all custom designed invites. When apart, they only look like personalized surfboards. But when together, they show the union between the couple.

Heather and Blair, it was a pleasure of working with you!

Christine & Cassie,

Another job well done! You captured Heather’s inspiration of the palm trees, surf boards and laid back lifestyle perfectly in a simple, fresh and yet effective design. I can feel the gentle soothing breeze of the palm trees!
