A couple weeks ago, Felt & Wire launched a contest for THE favourite Valentine. Whether you’re a designer or someone who just received a really awesome V-Day card, they are wanting you to send it in. All received Valentine’s cards will be photographed and posted to the Felt & Wire facebook page where members will vote on their favourite.
That got me excited about sending in one of our new Love Cards from our shop. Sure we’d want to send them in to promote our goods, but I really wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to do something different. And no, not a “Holy Shit! It’s Valentine’s Day” card.
This ended up being a Valentine’s Day Stand-Up. Two pieces that make one.
Cassie and I recently finished another wedding project – one which gave me the idea of slotting cards together. And that wedding project was inspired by the Eames House of Cards.
Disregard the rough edges from cutting, but who cares it’s my first DIY in a long time! And for those wanting to try this out, we’ve posted the file for you too!
1. Download the PDF by right-clicking this link and “Save as” to your desktop.
2. Print one page at a time – you will need to feed the first page back in the printer so you can print double-sided.
3. I recommend you use a thick cardstock (100 lb paper is best) and a photo inkjet printer.
*Some home printers have slight “shifting” – which means that it may not print directly on the back in the position you need. The paper may shift a couple millimetres or roughly 1/16″.
4. Using an Exacto knife may be best for cutting, but I managed to use a sharp pair of scissors. There is a slit in the top of one heart, and a slit in the bottom of the other heart.
5. Slot them together and voila!
Whether you’re someone who’s already blown their 2011 gift budget (ie. me on dining room chairs), a last-minute gifter, or someone looking for motor skill training, surprise your partner with this note in their lunch bag, or on their nightstand.
Have a great Valentine’s Day!
Cheers,
> Christine
