Recycle: Elephant Poo Poo Paper

by christine on March 17, 2010

On to Day 3 of our eco series with Elephant Poo Poo Paper. It just sounds awful, but it really isn’t that bad. It gives me hope that we can make paper with just about anything…

Greeting cards, journals, notepads – Elephant Poo Poo Paper has you covered. Yes, they sell dung for a living. Not to worry though, elephants are herbivores. Their excrement is actually made up of water and many fibrous materials likes grass, weeds and fruits. According to Elephant Poo Poo Paper, this makes for great paper. In just looking at the pictures online, the paper kind of resembles the Mulberry paper my aunt uses for her guest books here at Scrapping Albums.

I personally think they can splash up their designs a bit more, but I love the whole concept of recycling something no one would have ever thought of. This also reminds me of that one “Man vs Wild” episode from long ago. The host, Bear Grylls, lets you know that if you’re lost and desperate for water in the African Savannah, you can try squeezing water out of elephant dung. So using it as your journal can’t be THAT bad! It’s odorless!

Anyhow, hope you learned something new today! Enjoy your Wednesday,
