Entertaining Ideas

Turn downtime into productive time. What does that mean??? If you’re not familiar with this lame office cliche, you’ll learn it today!

I absolutely love walking through museum gift shops. Yeah, I guess you could say I’m a sucker for souvies at the end of the show. So when I found the Design Museum Shop, I was all over it. Last May, I had the chance to visit this museum in London and literally spent an hour browsing their shop. It wasn’t a large shop, but they had an eclectic array of goodies.

On its online store, I particularly liked their series of napkins – they really emphasized how important meals are to your day and of course, how much fun they can really be. Much more happens over a meal than you think.

Take for instance these “Graphkins”. The best ideas do come at the oddest times. I learned in school that great discussions are often spurred over a good meal – probably why dates involve food of some sort. :)

Some of the best times are celebrated over food and drink…. but maybe a little too much.

And the love of your life could be sitting right behind you. My husband and I didn’t meet dining out, but many of our fondest memories involve good food and wine.

But I love designs that encourage kids to enjoy meal time with mom and dad. And I got that sense from these origami placemats from Muji (offered last year). I couldn’t find them in-store anymore, but wanted to make note of them from the Iain Claridge blog.

And lastly, tear away paper placemats from Cake Vintage. Not everyone is taught the proper way to set the dishes and cutlery. Let these guide you everytime. 50 sheets in one pad! Sophisticated and fun (kids can colour too)!CakeVintage_placemat3_525w

Wherever you are this weekend, have a great time and enjoy your meals!

Cheers,

> Christine

It goes without saying that the food in Italy is amazing. The cheese, coffee and wine is top notch and it's safe to say I ate and drank my way through Rome a couple weeks ago. Before leaving I had to stop at a food shop to pick up sauces, pestos and the like to take home. It was there that I came across these delightful little tins of mints and candies from a confectionary company named Leone. // Read More
