So glad it’s Friday! It’s been raining really heavily here so I’m looking forward to staying cozy this weekend. Normally the rain would get me down but considering how horrific the situation is down in Haiti, I have nothing to complain about. On a brighter note, I want to finish the week by sharing with you the rest of the goodies I saw while at Chapters.
First up, some stationery by a line called Pistachio. Born in Canada, they are a very eco-minded company. A quick browse of their site and you can see that they have high ethical and sustainable policies for their goods.
Aside from their paper goods, they also carry other gift items ranging from candles to yummy smelling pencils. There’s always a bit of a hypocrisy when it comes to loving both stationery and the environment but Pistachio really says it best:
“We embrace the idea that being environmentally caring doesn’t mean denying, abandoning or refusing the things we love, but rather designing, developing and using products in more informed, eco-friendly ways.”
Next, over in the apothecary area were some soaps with gorgeous patterned wraps. From Pure Living, another Canadian company, is a line of soaps called Lucia (I LOVE their logo). I’m a total pattern junkie so of course I love this guest soap set. In fact, I love the wraps so much these would probably go unused. Instead they would sit on display NEXT to some other bar with a presumably less pretty wrap that I wasn’t so torn about ripping into. Or I would by two sets.
Last stop was the baby and kids section. Nope – I don’t have any kids but I have friends that do so I’m often on the lookout for presents. I love to spoil but I try to find gifts that are at least a little bit educational, although I did hate receiving boring educational gifts myself. Trust me, no 8 year old wants math/trivia flash cards.
In any case, toys (educational and otherwise) have come a long way to mixing fun and learning and these art cards for babies definitely caught my eye. I remember Mari over at Small for Big mentioning that babies like high contrast. Multi-colour does less for them at a young age and they actually are more responsive to simple black and white images. Who knew?
Guess they did over at Wee Gallery. Love the simple but appealing drawings and turns out they also do cards, prints, mobiles and a bunch of other stuff. Fun!
That about wraps it up! Check back on Monday when we’ll announce the winner from this week’s giveaway (which closes tonight at Midnight) and also the prize for next week.
Happy weekend!
