I’m sure we’ve all seen really great packaging for chocolate on the outside but what about designs on the inside, literally? The graphics on the bon bons from Mink really caught my eye not only because it’s different but also really fun!
Hand-crafted in Vancouver, Mink Chocolates uses the finest Belgian chocolate to create their chocolate bars and bon bons. When I worked downtown, I’d stop by after lunch and pick up one of their delish bars for dessert and to help me make it through the post-lunch drowsies.
Their bars come in these small packages about the size of an iPod. The design is really simple but lovely and perfect to tuck in my purse. I just love looking at all the different coloured bars lined up on the shelf.
Recently I picked up the Chocolatté (organic coffee and milk chocolate) and Love Potion (roasted banana, dark rum, lim and dark chocolate) bars. YUM! I really wanted their Hot Chocolate bar which is arbol and chipotle peppers in dark chocolate but it’s a seasonal item so no luck. Another favourite of mine is Peace in Provence which is a lavender bar.
But it’s their bon bons that are the most fun to look at! Each one has an illustration stamped on to give a hint as to what’s inside. Want to take a guess as to what the campfire represents? Apple Smoked Bacon!!! Sounds questionable but it’s actually quite tasty. A combo of sweet and salty, it’s perfect for someone like me who loves a bit of both.
With lots of vivid colour and cheeky illustrations, it’s delightful for the eyes and the taste buds.
You can buy their chocolates online or even better, at their shop if you happen to be in Vancouver. They also do coffee (they’re all about pairing coffee and chocolate) and offer fondue and waffles.
Starting December 1 their Christmas bar is back which is rum and egg nog flavoured. Looks like I’ll be stopping in soon!
