Hello Tokyo: Part 1 with Piperoids

by christine on November 2, 2009

My husband recently came back from a trip to Tokyo and brought back paper goodies! What a dear, he sure knows the way to my heart. Well, maybe with today’s post, he was hoping I would share these paper robots with him. AKA Piperoids, these are colourful paper tubes cut and folded for hours of fun.

Found at the MoMA store, there were 6 packages to choose from. What you see here are packages for 4 characters – Guyzer, Bean, Dr. Penk and Goriborg. If you visit online, each has its own cartoon – but only if you read Japanese. Check out Guyzer’s guitar!

There’s nothing to it. Cut, fold, assemble.

And make characters with open mouths. Sit them on your desk and insert a memo – yes, when you’re MIA in the office, let your colleagues slip a memo in the mouth of these Piperoids.

Almost like origami for guys… love the packaging too. Who doesn’t love colour and pattern??
