The costumes and treats at the local drugstore since September are a constant reminder that Halloween is just around the corner. I’m not quite sure when Halloween became a stationery holiday as I was always just out for the candy but it seems times have changed – or maybe just what I crave.
The usual Halloween icons of witches, ghosts and pumpkins are ever present but this year I’ve taken a liking to bats. No reason really, just that in illustration they’re benign, in real life when hanging about (literally), they’re mesmerizing and in movies, they’re horrifying. Such a PR problem for these creatures.
And here they are, flying about the stationery scene, leaving their mark. To all the Canadian readers, happy Thanksgiving weekend!
